On Saturday 21 June 2025, nearly 200 guests gathered at the Crown Perth Astral Ballroom to celebrate The Migrants Story — an inspiring evening honouring the resilience, achievements, and contributions of migrant professionals in Western Australia.
Hosted by the Western Australian Chinese Chamber of Commerce (WACCC), the event featured stirring performances by the Chung Wah Chinese Orchestra, heartfelt speeches from community leaders including Ms Sook Yee Lai MLA and Mr Basil Zempilas MLA, and powerful personal stories shared by Dr Janice Kan and Mr Bryan Ho. Both speakers reflected on their migrant journeys — from humble beginnings to becoming leaders in their fields of prosthodontics and interior design respectively. While both being migrants, their stories illustrated their varied characteristics and the diverse paths that they took to arrive at where they are today.
The evening also included a dynamic fireside chat, sponsor showcases, networking opportunities, and a celebratory prize draw. As WACCC President Tony Chong remarked in his closing, “These stories are not just personal triumphs, but part of the fabric of Western Australia’s multicultural success.”
We also would like to thank our sponsors, LINIC Group, Asia Link Capital, Squire Patton Boggs, Orchard International Hotels, and AH2 Group, for their generous support. Finally, we also want to give a shout out to our prize draw sponsors, Perth Healthcare, LINIC Group, and Squire Patton Boggs, for presenting attractive prizes to the lucky winners of the draw.
