WACCC Joins WA–Zhejiang Exchange Committee Meeting in Hangzhou
Western Australia and Zhejiang Province have shared a sister-state relationship since 1987, built on mutual respect and a shared vision for economic, cultural, and community exchange.
On 23 September 2025, the WA Chinese Chamber of Commerce (WACCC) proudly participated in the Western Australia–Zhejiang 10th Exchange Committee Meeting held at the Zhejiang Great Hall of the People in Hangzhou, China. This high-level government-to-government (G2G) event was led by WA Premier Hon. Roger Cook MLA & Mr. Xu Wenguang, Executive Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province.

The meeting brought together senior leaders from both governments and key organisations to reaffirm bilateral cooperation and explore new opportunities for collaboration across trade, investment, and innovation.

WACCC was represented by President Mr. Tony Chong, Honorary Life Member and Former Senior Vice President Mr. Jimmy Yong, and Chief Executive Officer Ms. Louise Clunies-Ross. During the meeting, WACCC re-signed its Memorandum of Understanding with the Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce — a renewed commitment to supporting WA businesses and fostering cross-cultural engagement.

While the meeting also marked the official opening of the WA Trade and Investment Office in Hangzhou, the focus remained on strengthening institutional ties and celebrating the enduring friendship between our two regions.
The event concluded with an official luncheon hosted by Zhejiang counterparts, offering a warm and symbolic close to a day of meaningful dialogue and shared vision.

WACCC remains dedicated to championing Western Australian businesses and building bridges across borders. We thank our Zhejiang hosts and WA State Government for their hospitality and look forward to continued collaboration.
