Wednesday Networking with Tarryn Lawrie
Wednesday Networking is a platform for members and non-members to meet different people, be exposed to new ideas and thoughts, develop new relationships and foster existing contacts.
White Australia Policy – Lasting Impressions
The National Archives of Australia (NAA) is holding an excellent exhibition on the personal impact of the White Australia Policy during the first half of the 20th Century. This “Lasting Impressions” exhibition explores the lives of individuals and families from China, Japan, India, the Philippines, who lived, loved and made homes in Australia and the lasting impressions they left on their communities and in the archives. The exhibition is free and opens during weekdays at NAA’s Northbridge office until the end of this month.
We’ve invited Tarryn Lawrie, senior archival officer at the NAA and curator for this exhibition, to give her perspective when putting together the stories on display. Tarryn’s work includes assisting members of the public with researching family history and specialised topics. She has a postgraduate diploma in archives and records, and coordinates and curates’ local exhibitions and public seminars.
Come and hear the stories behind this fascinating exhibition.
