ABOUT THE WCEC
The World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) was first conceptualised and organised by the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) in 1991 to provide an apolitical forum to enhance economic cooperation and promote understanding amongst Chinese entrepreneurs worldwide.
In 1991, the SCCCI, The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong and the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce formed the Founder Members Board to ensure the continuity of the WCEC. Subsequently, the WCEC Secretariat was set up to operate as the central liaison point and coordinating centre for matters relating to the WCEC; it liaises with the host organisation of each WCEC in ensuring the smooth organisation of the Convention. The WCEC Secretariat is rotated amongst the three Founder Members with each operating on a 6-year term. The SCCCI hosts the current WCEC Secretariat.
