A Night to Remember: WACCC Chinese New Year Ball 2026

A Night to Remember: WACCC Chinese New Year Ball 2026

A New Years Celebration to Remember

On Saturday, 21 February 2026, the Western Australian Chinese Chamber of Commerce proudly hosted its flagship annual event, the 2026 Chinese New Year Ball – A Night in Old Shanghai, at Crown Perth. The evening welcomed more than 400 guests from across business, government and the broader WA–Asia community in celebration of culture, connection and the Year of the Horse
We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests including the Hon Roger Cook MLA, Premier of Western Australia; Hon Dr Anne Aly MP; Senator Matt O’Sullivan; Hon David Michael MLA; Hon Basil Zempilas MLA; Hon Pierre Yang MLC; Ms Sook Yee Lai MLA; Ms Tania Lawrence MP; and Hon Clive Brown. Government representatives, including officials from the Consulates-General of China, Malaysia and Indonesia, were also present, reflecting Western Australia’s strong global connections.
The formal program featured a Chinese New Year toast and a series of addresses. In his remarks, WACCC President Mr Tony Chong announced the launch of a new Business Alliance Partnership between the Shenzhen, Guangdong, Fujian and Women’s Association, and more. He shared that these organisations will collaborate closely to present a unified voice to the government, strengthening advocacy efforts and deepening cooperation within the broader Chinese business community in Western Australia.
Addresses were also delivered by the Premier, the Leader of the Opposition, and Hon Dr Anne Aly MP, reflecting bipartisan support for the Chamber’s mission and the continued importance of trade, investment and multicultural engagement in the state.
The Crown Ballroom was transformed into an elegant Old Shanghai setting, where guests enjoyed premium dining and a vibrant cultural program. Highlights included the traditional Lion Dance and a special surprise performance by West Australian Opera, who presented an exclusive preview of La Traviata.
A major highlight of the evening was the headline performance by Dami Im, whose spectacular vocals captivated the audience and delivered a memorable finale to the formal program.
The evening also featured exclusive Year of the Horse auction items and prize draws, generating strong engagement and enthusiastic support.
We extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors, partners, performers and guests for contributing to the success of this signature event. Major sponsors include Autoleague, New Diamond & MACA, The Perth Mint, and The Commonwealth Bank. Table sponsors include Golden Group, PRL Group, Emerald Resources, Arcadia Group, Asia Link Capital, Simon Lee Foundation, Squire Patton Boggs, Tajuria Holdings, Coverforce, Mr. Richard Tan, Mr. Tony Chong, Real Estate 88, Visions Survey Consulting, and Crown Perth.
