Wednesday Networking with Ms Acacia Collard

Wednesday Networking is a platform for members and non-members to meet other like-minded people, providing the chance to create relationships.

On November 18, 2020, our Chamber conducted two ceremonies in a special Wednesday Networking event. The first ceremony was the formal presentation by Indigenous artist Acacia Collard of her painting to our Chamber. The second was a New Member Ceremony for a selected group of Chamber members who applied to join us during 2020.

Acacia gave a brief talk to introduce herself, her work, and the symbolisms embedded in her painting. Vice President Cheong Chew expressed the Chamber’s appreciation to Acacia, and presented her with a plaque as a momento to her painting.

The New Member Ceremony was conducted by Council Member Halina Young. The list of participates were:

Mr Bruce Hawley & Mrs Wendy Hawley, Clockwork Print and Signage
Professor Colin Roberts, Salternas Ltd
Ms Vanessa Xiao, 8 Advisory Accountants & Advisors
Mr Simon Helm, Imperium Advisory
Ms Simone Tan, Student

Special guests of the evening included Ms Sandy Anghie, Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Perth; and Dr Chen Ting, President of Chung Wah Association.

Young indigenous artist Acacia Collard will formally present her painting “Dabakarn Koorliny” (Noongar for “Walk Slowly”) to the WA Chinese Chamber of Commerce (WACCC). The painting represents WACCC’s 32 years journey spent in Whadjuk country, the friendships established, and the space for growth into the future.

Acacia is a Badimia Yamatji – Balladong Noongar woman who specialises in contemporary Aboriginal artworks and designs.

On the same evening, WACCC will conduct a special New Membership ceremony to welcome new members who join our Chamber.
