Trade missions
A ten- member trade mission delegation left for China on 6 June to seek new business and investment opportunities. First stop was Huzhou Province where the Chamber signed a Memorandum of Friendship and Cooperation with the Huzhou Federation of Industry and Commerce. Members toured the Wuxing Industrial Park which was an eye opener for most members.
Members then proceeded to Ningbo where the highlight was attendance at Zhejiang Trade and Investment Symposium and the China International Consumer Goods Fair. The delegation spent several hours at the Trade Fair, where several members sourced for different products for their respective businesses.
Special programs were also organized for individual members to meet up with Chinese manufacturers and businesses offering specific products of interest.

The Chamber's Chinese New Year Dinner will be held on 6 February 2009.
Migrant's Night
A wonderful opportunity to network and meet new migrants over a sumptuous Chinese meal. Our three speakers will also share their heart-rendering experiences as migrants in WA. Two of our three speakers spoke of the challenges they faced as migrants. Taku Mbudzi had an especially heart rendering story as she recounted all the challenges she faced in trying to set up a business in Australia. Khoon Tan traced the history of his career and credited his success to his ability to “dare to dream”. Finally Terry Opie provided his formula for success encapsulated in just one word “Perseverance”.
It was an enjoyable evening with excellent Chinese food provided by Han Palace and guests were treated to great wine provided by Feet First wines.
Watch out for the next Migrant’s Night which will be held in the 2nd quarter of this year.
